About Arc Dome Wilderness

Arc Dome Wilderness is a 120,280-acre federally protected Wilderness Area managed by the Forest Service in Nevada. The landscape is primitive backcountry where no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted—this is true wilderness, governed by Leave No Trace principles and the rules that define the National Wilderness Preservation System.

The area offers hiking and backpacking for visitors seeking solitude and untrammeled terrain. Access is on foot only, and all travel must be non-motorized. The wilderness character means you'll encounter few developed facilities or marked infrastructure; route-finding and self-sufficiency are essential. Spring and fall can bring variable weather; winter access is limited and hazardous for most visitors.
