About Beauty Mountain Wilderness Area

Beauty Mountain Wilderness Area is a 15,736-acre federally designated Wilderness in California, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is primitive backcountry where motors, mechanical travel, and development are prohibited—visitors experience the landscape on foot or horseback in its natural state.

The area offers hiking and backpacking for those seeking solitude and untracked terrain. Access is non-motorized only, and all visitors are expected to follow Leave No Trace principles: pack out what you pack in, camp away from water sources, and travel lightly on the land. There are no maintained facilities, roads, or developed infrastructure within the Wilderness.

Visit during mild seasons when weather permits safe travel and camping. Winter conditions can be severe and access may be limited. Always check current conditions with the BLM before heading out, as remoteness and lack of services mean self-sufficiency is essential.
