Big Frog Wilderness

Big Frog Wilderness is an 8,502-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Tennessee, managed by the Forest Service. This is genuine backcountry—primitive and undeveloped, with no roads, motors, or mechanized travel allowed. Visitors come here to hike and backpack in solitude, experiencing the landscape on foot through non-motorized means only.

The wilderness operates under strict Leave No Trace principles. Access is foot-traffic only; you'll need to walk in from trailheads on the perimeter. Plan for a true wilderness experience: no facilities, no development, and the responsibility to pack out everything you pack in. Seasonal weather and stream conditions will shape your visit, so scout conditions before heading out.
