About Alta Ski Area
Alta Ski Area is an operating ski resort in Utah's Wasatch Range near the town of Alta, sitting at 10,553 feet of elevation. The area offers 2,015 vertical feet of skiing and snowboarding terrain across varied slopes. Alta's high-elevation setting and Utah snow pack make it a capable winter destination for resort skiing and riding from roughly December through April.
Access is via Highway 210 from Salt Lake City; the road climbs into Little Cottonwood Canyon and terminates near the resort. Like much of the Wasatch, Alta experiences significant winter weather and avalanche terrain in the backcountry—stick to patrolled runs and marked terrain. The resort operates seasonally, so confirm conditions and opening dates before planning a visit.
