The Weminuche Trail is a 10.2-mile out-and-back hike located in Colorado's San Juan Mountains. With 1,240 feet of elevation gain, this moderate trail offers a manageable climb through alpine terrain managed by the US Forest Service. The trail provides access to the Weminuche Wilderness, a vast and remote high-country area known for its pristine lakes, cirque basins, and jagged peaks. Hikers can expect subalpine forests and meadows along the route, with opportunities to view wildlife and wildflowers depending on season. The out-and-back format allows flexibility—hikers can turn back at any point or push for the full distance.
